Tom Scholes Color Study

I haven't done a lot of digital painting lately, unless you count texture work, so today I went ahead and did this color study from Tom Scholes's work, "Traversal":

You can find the original painting on Tom Scholes's CGHUB:

Check him out if you get the chance, I really like the guy's work.  He does great stuff with color.

Hard Surface Architecture Project - Al Khazneh - Petra

Another hard surface project I've been meaning to post.  I sculpted the Al Khazneh Treasury from Petra in Zbrush, and then later baked down the sculpt to a low poly model.

Followed by some renders of the low poly model in Marmoset, with baked textures:

Hard Surface Project - GTF Trident

This is my first hard surface modeling project, which included the process of building a high poly model and baking it down to a game model.  Here are some renders of the low poly model done in Marmoset:

Some renders of the high poly model, with some neat shaders applied:

The concept wireframe sheet:

I was inspired by the vessels in space sim games such as Descent, Descent Freespace, and I also looked a lot at Battlestar Galactica space fighters as reference.

Junior Projects Animation

With another semester down, I've got quite a few things to post here from the work I've been doing over the last few months.

I'll start with my junior projects animation that I finished this semester.  Earlier in my blog I posted an animatic for this project, which was for the most part, the blueprint for the animation.  Here's my project, watch in HD with sound if possible!

Some pre-pro work:

The opening shot of the environment:

And some shots of the character:

I took a lot of inspiration from Windwaker, and it was fun at the least to be working from that style as reference for this project.

Zbrush Character Work

Posting some work I've been doing in Zbrush over the last few months.  Here's some of the finished results:

More work from other things to be coming soon!  There's quite a bit of stuff I've been working on in the last few months that I've been meaning to update here that I'll get to as soon as the school's out for summer.
